Mayor Tony Powers
City of Decatur
 
Tony Powers became mayor of Decatur in 2026. He was elected to the City Commission in 2015. As a native of Decatur, Tony has served the Decatur community for many years. Tony grew up in the Oakhurst community and is a proud graduate of Decatur High School. Tony earned a degree in marketing from the University of Georgia and is a co-owner of Intown Ace Hardware.

Rotary International President to Visit Georgia on June 22

We are excited to share that Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo will be visiting the Atlanta area on Monday, June 22, 2026, following the Rotary International Convention in Taipei.
 
This is a unique opportunity and will be a special day of Rotary fellowship.
 
The schedule for the day includes:
 
• 10:30 AM – District Leadership, PDGs and 25-26 Club President Meet & Greet
📍Peachtree City Christian Church 500 Kedron Dr., Peachtree City, GA 30269

• 11:30 AM – Doors Open for All Attendees / Lunch Served
📍Peachtree City Christian Church

• 12:00 PM – Presentation by RI President
📍Peachtree City Christian Church
 
Because food will be pre-ordered and venue space is limited, RSVPs will be required for all attendees.

SAVE THE DATE: 
FODAC Service Project, August 8
Be sure to save Saturday, August 8, 2026, as the date to participate in the FODAC home medical equipment drive. Join Decatur Rotary Club members, along with other clubs in DeKalb County, in picking up donated equipment and organizing donations.
 
Members and their guests will assemble at the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant. People who can drive a van or pick-up truck are encouraged to drive.
 
This event is being sponsored by the North Atlanta Rotary Club along with the DeKalb Rotary Council. The chair is Nathan Averson, and he can be reached at 404-386-080 for any questions.

Herb McCoy introduced speaker Maryum Phillips
 
Last week, Herb McCoy introduced our lunch speaker, Maryum Phillips, CEO of Status: Home, the oldest organization providing housing for individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS. Maryum memorably explained that “housing is healthcare.”
